Why SRI Matters

SRI and similar agro-ecological systems where the same principles are applied to different crops (SCI – the System of Crop Intensification) are extremely important in a world where the number of hungry people is not decreasing fast enough, where the population is growing and where vital resources are diminishing. SRI and SCI can play an enormous part in addressing some of the most pressing issues of our time. And they can also play an enormous part in addressing economic and gender-based inequities – at least, those that exist in much of the rural Global South.
